If you are shooting the Malcolm Short Rifle Telescopes on a big caliber such as 45-90 or 45-110, we would recommend using the sliding lock ring.
With the sliding lock ring, the scope will move forward after each shot from the recoil. Because of this movement, the amount of forces traveling through the mount and the optic are greatly reduced.
Prior to shooting again, you will need to pull back on the optic and reset the scope to battery.
