M73G4

Malcolm 2.5X M73G4

Externally, the Wm. Malcolm M73G4 is the spitting image of the original. Internally, this scope is far superior due to the vast improvements in modern optics. Additionally, the M73G4 offers more windage and elevation adjustment than the original, with a total of at least 60 MOA adjustment from optical center. We also offer a mount for the M1903A4 rifle.

Hi-Lux has totally re-engineered this scope's optical design from the inside out, maximizing the image clarity and light transmission. Our goal was to bring to the Vintage Sniper Rifle competition shooter a top quality scope that surpasses the quality of the WWII originals used on the M1903 sniper rifles.

Wm. Malcolm M73

To fulfill the need for WWII sniper rifles, the U.S. Army adopted the M1903A4 as the first standardized U.S. sniper rifle in 1942. This version of the Remington M1903A3 came without a rear sight, and had been fitted with a 3/4-inch Weaver 330C 2.5x riflescope, designated the M73B1. It was mounted with a one-piece base and rings produced by Redfield. In total, 29,964 M73B1 scopes were produced.

It worked better then I thought it would

I wanted an authentic look for a 03-A4 I was building and I got it. But if you're expecting the kind of performance we get today you'll be disappointed. Face it, it's a 3/4" tube at 2.5 power. However it's a clear image and the adjustments are accurate. They do look crude by todays standards but they work. I am averaging 1.6" ,100yd 5 shot groups and am able to make 500yd hits on a 30" steel silhouette however with no hash marks you really need to be able to judge your holdover. And once you have the base on the rifle I don't see any reason you couldn't slap on some 1" Redfield rings and put on a more modern scope when you didn't want to go old school. Yeah, it seems expensive for a old fashion looking 2.5 X scope but it's far better then the ones I used 60 years ago. it doesn't fog up and there are no specs of whatever was flopping around in the barrel of those old scopes. And if you want the look I don't know anywhere else to get it.
