For some shooting applications such as engaging moving targets at longer distances, it may be advantageous to use a First Focal Plane Scope. Because the reticle is front of the erector unit (internal lens system), the reticle is accurate at every power of the magnification range. This allows the shooter to make holdovers, wind calls and estimate range at any power.
