Ordred my scope on wednesday and arrived on monday ( very fast for me) due to customs in france, without it had been at home on friday.
The scope had fitted perfectly if I had controlled the dovetail size. So, it was too small, but Hilux send me directly the correct one
On the range after a bit of trying it shoot a group so nice I never shooted with iron sights!
Just purchased a long Malcom scope for my new Uberti 1885 highwall 45-70. The scope is beautiful but the 5 inch shade tube extension sticks out almost an inch beyond the barrel. Looks kinda odd and likely could more easily damage it. I wrote them as they knew exactly my gun and barrel length. They said I could order a 3 inch. Only a 4 inch would work to fit the dovetail. Don't make a 4 inch. Then the additional rear site mechanism (made in China) had to be remachined to work. My gunsmith did the machining and now it's great. So I'll live with a scope that's longer than the barrel as I have no choice. This disappointed me.
Just got it mounted and sighted in by a great gunsmith! Proud as a peacock!
The scope it's self is great along with the fine elevation kit the only thing to inprove on the scope is the windage adjustment You have to move the scope up to get to the windage screws. The only problem I found was with the Higher Front ring kit the dovetail is very large and the only way to get it to fit is to have the dovetail enlarged on the barrel. Would have been good if it were the same size that come with the scope
